Brief History
Jay Magistrado Dimaiwat is one of us from Rinconada – ‘taga-Iriga’. Today, he is a successful senior corporate executive in Nestle Phils., the largest food & beverage multinational company in the world producing such world-class brands as NESCAFE, MILO, NIDO, to name a few. As Vice-President / Channel Business Group Head for Hotels, Restaurants, Catering (HORECA) Channel for Nestle Professional, - the globally-managed foodservice business of Nestle Phils., he is responsible for managing a business with annual sales turnover of Php800M mainly driven by Nestle's core beverages NESTEA, NESCAFE, COFFEEMATE, and MILO. Through the years, he has gained rock-solid work experience with core competencies in Sales and Marketing, Channel Business Development, Strategic Planning, Distributorship Management, and Leadership Development.
Early on, Jay has already exhibited leadership potential as a young student. He was a consistent academic achiever, and was class valedictorian and president of his batch at the Rinconada Allied Cultural School (RACS), the Filipino-Chinese school in Iriga City. It was a time when life in Iriga was laid-back and relaxed. Tricycle fare was Ps.0.50 cents; Ibalon Hotel was a known landmark , and the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto Shrine was a favorite destination with a front-row view of Mt. Iriga.

In 1983, the year Ninoy Aquino was assassinated, Jay entered the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary in Naga City. As
a seminarian, he was a consistent honor student and was elected as Class Beadle / President of the graduating class of 1987.
He was in 3rd year high school when the 1986 Edsa Revolution happened. Life in the seminary revolved around “Ora et Labora” – ‘work and pray’, and “Mens Sana in Corpore Sano” – ‘ a sound mind in a healthy body’ - all in the context of achieving the proper balance of spiritual, and intellectual growth with work, and play which his formators in the seminary instilled in Jay.

He took up college in UP Diliman, widening his horizon by joining various student organizations. One of these is UP Ibalon, the organization of Bicolano students in UP Diliman. At a time of political turmoil in the post-EDSA era in 1989, the same year that Gringo Honasan launched a bloody coup against the Cory Aquino administration, he joined the UP PI SIGMA Fraternity. On his last year in College, he was elected as Lord Excelsius (Head) of the Fraternity - no mean feat considering the great responsibility required by the position and the significance that Fraternities have traditionally played in the history of the University.
Immediately after college, he was accepted as Manager-Trainee of the international fast-food chain, McDonald’s. As Manager-Trainee, Jay was trained on the different aspects of restaurant management which included operations, financial, and people-supervision.
The early to mid-1990’s during the Ramos presidency was a time of robust economic growth fueled by the real estate sector and strong stock market activity. In 1994, Jay decided to change gears with a career in the pharmaceutical industry. As Medical Representative for Boehringer Ingelheim, a German multinational company which produced Bisolvon, and Pharmaton among others- Jay began his journey to a career in Sales and Marketing.
I n 1996, driven by passion and a desire to succeed in the corporate world, Jay Magistrado Dimaiwat embarked on a Sales career with Nestle Phils as Sales Representative. At a time when the Philippine economy was being battered by the Asian financial crisis, Jay was building his career, further acquiring new competencies, and slowly creating a name for himself in his field of influence. In 1997, he married Melissa Arabia of Legaspi City, who was a student leader in UP Diliman during their college days.
In 1998, when Joseph Estrada was elected President, Jay was promoted to Supervisory level, pioneering and driving the growth of the Vending business for Nestle Phils.
Three years later in January 2001, the country was again plunged into turmoil which began when Estrada was impeached by the House of Representatives triggering the second people power revolution. That year, Jay was moved up as Asst. Manager, and later to Sales Manager in a span of 2 years, with increasing role and responsibilities assigned to him by the company.
As Vending Sales Manager, at the time when Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was consolidating her Presidency, Jay largely developed Nestle’s business with the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies otherwise known as Call Centers, servicing them with their coffee and beverage pantry needs. Today, the BPO / Call Center sector is an important growth driver for the Philippine economy generating jobs in the thousands.
Jay is well-traveled both local and international. Because of his work, he has visited almost all the major destinations in Asia-Pacific including China and Australia. He was also sent by the company to attend international conferences and trainings in Singapore, Malaysia, and the United States.
In 2004, Jay was designated Channel Business Head for the Business & Industry Channel which includes the Vending business. In 2006, with his solid contribution and performance, he was promoted to Asst. Vice-President and concurrently handled two channels, the Hotel, Restaurant, Catering (HORECA), and Business & Industry (B&I) Channels. Under his leadership, he has executed key channel programs which resulted to significant sales volume generation and sales achievement. He has full topline and bottomline accountability of the channel business. Courage, Commitment, Results-Focus, Leading People, Service-Orientation, and Integrity – these are the core values which Jay lives by as a leader.

Apart from his professional career, Jay takes an active part in the affairs of his Fraternity alumni. At present, he is the Alumni President of the PI SIGMA Fraternity Alumni Association, Inc. (PSFAA Inc.). Today, members of the Fraternity are present in various engagements – corporate and business, academe, media, government, legal, medical, IT and engineering, the arts, non-governmental organizations, and cause-oriented groups.
In December 2006, after the aftermath of the Mayon Volcano mudslides, and flooding triggered by Typhoon Reming which devastated Albay, and Camarines Sur in the Bicol region, Jay mounted a relief drive, and mobilized his Fraternity alumni, corporate colleagues, friends, and personally led a convoy of vehicles from Manila laden with much needed essentials – rice, canned goods, medicines, and other basic necessities, and together with medical personnel, provided succor and relief to those affected by the calamity. The relief aid generated much goodwill that the activity was even featured by major national newspapers.
He is also active in socio-civic endeavors, being an active donor to the organization of Pediatric Leukemia patients who are close to his heart, one of his sons being afflicted with the same medical condition.
Recently, together with Metro Manila, and locally-based concerned citizens of Rinconada (Baao, Balatan, Bato, Buhi, Bula, Nabua, and Iriga), he established Go Rinconada Movement, a non-stock, non-profit socio-civic organization to help spur growth, and development in the district, both social, and economic.

Jay Magistrado Dimaiwat is one of the epitomes of the modern young Filipino – achiever, dynamic leader, competent, capable, nationalist, selfless, God-fearing and concerned Filipino.
